THE PRESCHOOL AT PRUMC UNVEILS STATE OF THE ART PLAYGROUND Continues to Renovate and Improve Facilities After Celebrating 70 Years in Buckhead

 

 

 

 

Atlanta, Georgia – April 2024 – The Preschool at Peachtree Road United Methodist Church, located in Buckhead, recently completed a brand new playground after a successful capital fundraising project. The new space boasts modern play structures and surfaces that promote physical and cognitive development in children through play. The playground was designed by Freespace Architecture and constructed by Griffin Construction Group under the close supervision of Executive Director Andrea Petsche. The new space includes multi-colored artificial turf, multiple climbing structures, swings, balance equipment, an outdoor fort/classroom, slides, an outdoor play kitchen, and garden beds.

 

"We focused on modernizing the area with new equipment that grows with each child and can be used for movement and creative play. The design was developed with input from families, faculty, and staff," says Petsche. "But what touches my heart is the generosity of our families and community who volunteered and donated to make this possible. While the spaces indoors and outdoors at The Preschool facilitate learning and build relationships, our focus is not just on what children know and can do, but who they are becoming."

 

This playground is just one of the many recent improvements to The Preschool's facilities, all of which are designed to enhance learning and development. Other upgrades include a new toddler playground, new classroom furniture and artwork displays, and the creation of a state-of-the-art Occupational Therapy (OT) gym. A licensed occupational therapist staffs the OT gym, which features soft surfaces, rock climbing walls, and ceiling swings to help students improve their sensory, gross, and fine motor skills.

 

"Our faculty and staff are experts in developing our students and preparing them for their academic careers and we have seen how their teaching efforts are compounded when the facilities reflect that same level of excellence,” says Ralson Goetz, Chair of The Preschool Board of Directors. “This playground is more than a play space; it is a catalyst for furthering The Preschool's purpose of nurturing the whole child and brings to life The Preschool's core values of Play, Grow, Love, Think, Engage, and Create in the best ways possible.  There is no doubt that this will allow us to better serve our students and the families of Buckhead for years to come.”
